    music and the unions

Post  lost on Thu Jun 09, 2011 3:31 pm

in tghe 1970s the strawbs recorded a song called,i think,"you wont get me-im part of the union".although this was apparentluy written as an attack of the idea of trades unionism,it backfired and became in certain quarters, and anthem FOR trade unionism.

a while ago my wife sent me a reference to a more recent recording by the black eyed peas of a song, which appears to be in favour of trades unionism.

perhaps iys my age but the latter almost made me feel sick its so sickly and cuddly.outdated " part of the union"might be but if the newer piece is the best anyone can do,give me the strawbs, anyday.
